Capital City: Adelaide

South Australia is home to the largest proportion of dry desert regions of all the Australian states. It is also synonymous with dry salt lakes throughout the inland and ragged coastlines plunging to the sea.

The state is also home to some of Australia's best known wines and a renowned Art Festival. Fleets of paddlewheel steamers cruise the lower reaches of the Murray River and the capital city of Adelaide is known as the city of churches.

Kangaroo Island is a popular attraction and a naturalist heaven. There is excellent bush walking and hiking in the Flinders Ranges to the north of Adelaide. The southern oceans provide excellent seafood and many of the coastal villages are the home ports to an assortment of fishing fleets.

Traditional Adelaide hotels and self contained apartments comprise the majority of South Australian holiday accommodation . Rural centres offer motel and motor inn style lodgings.
