Brisbane Highlights

The capital of Queensland, Brisbane is the arrival city for the majority of visitors starting their Queensland holiday. It is a friendly city with a sunny climate, a  laid-back lifestyle and sidewalk cafe ambience.

Modern day Brisbane is a rapidly expanding cosmopolitan city. The central precinct is surrounded by a huge suburban area and the city's dominant feature is the Brisbane River. A Brisbane hire car is a good idea if you plan on seeing everything Brisbane has to offer.

The city has an extensive network of bus and ferry services that access all the major local attractions. There are many excellent choices for both business and recreational hotels and apartments.

The world famous Gold Coast is a one hour drive south of Brisbane on the Pacific Motorway. To the north lies the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane's other beach holiday playground which is also a one hour trip from the city.

Brisbane offers: Ferry rides to Moreton Island, wild dolphin feeding at Tangalooma Island, the city lights from Mt Cootha, paddle wheel cruises on the Brisbane River, koalas at Lone Pine, historic tram and train rides, historic Newstead House and the prison remnants at St Helena Island, walk the city's heritage trail and relax in the lovely Southbank Parklands.... and that's just for starters!
